Major Update! Please Read!

As you all have been patiently waiting, I've been working on the server offline, and working on quite a few things. I can get all the needed code, and all the needed entities up in no time... But we have jack shit for models. In all honesty, we really don't have any form right now of getting any models, because as Daniel has reported to me, our porter we were hoping on is of course not here. So of the moment, we are at a dead stop until we can get a porter, and someone experienced at it to bring over models that I can transfer and make the gamemode use. I'm unsure if Dan has already done the vote, but we have been talking, and we could for the time being have a place holder cannon, and an awesome plot-line for an HL2:RP until we get a porter. So aka, we have the server as a HL2:RP for the time being, with custom content, and anything else you guys would of request of.

I don't think a HL2:RP would be ideal. Maybe something that doesn't get used a lot instead. I'd vote for Stalker Roleplay, Metro Roleplay, but I can't vote for HL2:RP. Or maybe something fitted to be temporary would be ideal.

An example of something set to be temporary would be (this is an example, so don't rage) like Black Mesa during the incident and throughout, and ending with the bomb going off. Maybe someone could think of something else more temporary, but really, I can't go with HL2:RP. Sorry.

Out, to be honest, I don't think that Metro or StalkerRP would be a good alternative. Both of them requires a good player base, and that's something we don't have right now.

So does HL2:RP. You need a fine balance between CP and Citizens, and other than that, if you don't have a lot of people, then what can citizens do?

Anything but HL2RP. Although I'm thinking of keeping the server a test server so we know the content works. But if you guys want a different gamemode for the time being so you can have somewhere to roleplay and I mean all of you want it then I'll consider it. No HL2RP though, too overused.

I would actually like to see a Pre-Disaster Black Mesa RP. I think that would be pretty fun, but is probably a thing that would require a lot of work. I played on a BMRP server before, and it was pretty fun, ended up in the end using my scientist character, Robert Warsaw being a high-up ranking scientist, being a designer in designing the Anti-Mass Spectrometer. Fun times... :3

Right. So it's pretty certain HL2RP is out of the question, like it should be, it's very common and boring (in my opinion) and not linked to Dead Space. Here is my opinion, firstly I feel the poll question should be changed to 'do you wish for a temporary roleplay server for the time being?' This I feel should be a community decision and not by a select thew. If yes, it needs to be something simple and has a interesting storyline which will be easy for us to work with. It should not be something confusing and difficult to play through and members of the community are un-common with. Lastly it shouldn't be over exaggerated or worked too hard on, as we need to place more focus on our main project and also we don't want people to get too attached to their temporary characters. Honestly I personally think this idea should be ditched, as this will slow us down and stop us from being able to use the server for development and testing. So it comes to this: do you want to slow down the progress of us completing the main project or want a place to hook up at and roleplay? Lets let the community decide.

I COMPLETELY agree with Jericho. We can even open a map and do a single firefight scenario, just to have some fun without working on something complicated...

I recently had ALOT of content for Black Mesa roleplay and I have the old map that DF used for Black Mesa RP. I would have to go back and find all of it again.

I only brought this up because of the long development time I was worried that you guys would lose interest and leave. That's all.

Alright, I change my opinion, I'd prefer Black Mesa RP over HL2RP, since... Well, it does require a big playerbase to balance the ratio, and usually people just full out rambo when their a CP or a Rebel.

And the Black Mesa RP would be during the disaster, not before. The reason being that it failed before, as it was just passive mostly and made everyone get bored. Maybe it'll start just before and then on the first day the disaster would happen. There's a lot of content, such as the Black Mesa Source content.

I mean, staying in an area with the tension of hoping nothing teleports next to you and kills you sounds awesome

Black Mesa sounds interesting, and mostly everyone knows the storyline, the content is an easy enough job, so this could work!

Alright, someone make a new poll... With like, Black Mesa RP and a few other RP's to see what the community wants.

See now, I can easily put in all the shit. But the main problem, I can't do anything without models. So until we can get something like that in, we can use a simple, and yet fun HL2:RP. In all entirety, I don't need the server for testing, because I test everything locally on a 'ole LAN server, and check for bugs and whatnot. Until we can get some decent models, we are stuck a dead stop with the project. I brought up the temp RP to give us something to do, and I put in some custom and community plugins, and a bit of my own work that is pretty cool. Yeah I know its overused. Buuut, I though instead of silly stuck in the city scenario, its going to be a cool lil action based plotline. Maybe we can even go as far as a Wasteland RP. It can be used long enough, and stretched out enough to encompass the time we need to wait until we can find a porter and a modeler. Yeah we will need a modeler too, because I though of some problems that came up in my head about repetition of faces. So we would need to take every suit/outfit we rip, and hex/model the HL2 civies heads onto 'em. AKA, shit I have no idea how to do.

Oh, and yeah, I will ATTEMPT to change the stoopid poll. I dunno how though.

As i said, i think the best thing to do right now is to keep our key aim on development.

Though Mushroom, das the problem, development is at a complete standstill as of now. Until we get the modeler/porter, we are stuck.
